Wish these tile plank manufactures would make random length porcelain plank. That "stairstep" look makes me cringe when I see it. You sometimes see it on siding jobs too
It's one of the first signs that a rookie installed a real wood install.
Brian, this is not meant to be offensive to you or others who read this. There isn't much you can do with a 24" plank or what the manufacturers call for.
Someday we will live in a perfect tile world.

I hear you Brad, especially when they call for a offset like that to hide some minor cupping. even if they make a random length, it wont help unless they can make them perfectly flat. I like to run the step sometimes and move them around. some planks on the other hand its all random. I show the homeowner a few ways it can be set in pictures and let them decide the look.

Have been doing a bunch of boring jobs that I don't feel like posting. That will change pretty quick as we're starting some really custom homes soon.
...I have been messing with this mockup niche in my garage. Ordered some led panels to play with and glued some glass to plexi with some clear epoxy. It's not built for use as is, but I'm confident I could pull it off with some 1" kboard and some 3/4" plexiglass.

Hi Obie
Since that's just a mock up, I'll give you an address where to send it when you're finished with it. Awesome!

Thanks guys! I've always wanted to incorporate back lit stone/glass into a shower. Hopefully soon I'll make it happen.
And John I probably owe you the mockup after how many times I've dropped the quote in your signature to a potential client

Obie I think there are enough aging rock stars in LA area that you should have a line outside your garage door.
Make one that looks like an electric guitar.
