Well, let's see I think these two will are real good starters . I had to compress the files by quite a bit which does not yield very good quality pictures. The files are much larger because of the extra manipulating I did. I did a couple others with just the book in B&W and another of the same with the flames added. I also have a 'smoke' effect, but I really gotta get something else done today

Hey marni nice work. what program are using for your digital editing. ive had
the chance to use photo shop 7 on a trial dl basis and loved it. really fun to
play with. did you see my photo in the photo album with the joker smile? smudge
tool can be fun from time to time. i assume you layerd that together, where did
you find the nice trasnparent flames? or did you create those yourself?

That's one heck of a grin you got goin there! No, Jack actually I just now went through the photo album. I'm sure I pulled it up before, must not have been any pictures on the last page that day and I went on to something else. There's some pretty good reading in there as well as some very nice family photos and pichers of FISH! Not sure of which there are more!

There's so much stuff on this site, I usually find wandering thread to thread in the main forum which often leads me to one of the pros websites where I drool over some really NICE showers . I check in at the pro's club now and again too and find some interesting tid bits like how to sharpen your saw blade and stuff. I like the small detail information that I find here and there. Sort of like tips and tricks that make the job go smoother and look better. And then of course there's the liberry!

Just ain't enough time in the day to read it all! Speaking of reading, John's book arrived yesterday!

I'm using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7. Been using Jasc for a number of years now and I guess I'm kinda hooked on it. Would be nice to have Adobe Photo Shop, but I can't see forking out $700 for a picture program! The flames are an effect too like oil painting or chrome, but you have to select the area you want the effect to be on. So basically I just drew around the book and added the effect. The flames effect came with this newest (I think it's the newest) version of PS7; found it by accident of course cause I never read the "what's new" info. Sheesh, it would have taken me a week to try to draw in all those flames! Anyway, I like the rich colors in that flame one.

Nice work on those designs, Jack. That 2nd one appears to be a business card while the top one is kinda like letterhead or a topper for an invoice; I'm sure they are of equal importance! Nice even layout of the business card too. It's a wee dark with the dark letters. I like the letters and would lighten the card a hair to bring them out a bit more. And the other one is very nice work too! I'd have to assume that's your work in the background? Nice 'cool blue' lettering too.

Bill, well it's good to know that I'm not missing anything! I've used my brother's Adobe program a few times but it's ancient... like 8 years old at least so it didn't really do that much more than my program; and it did it a lot more confusingly too. I believe it had macros on it though which would be nice to have programmed effects there at my fingertips, but I've been playing with pics for a while now long now and can recreate them similiarly each time. Jasc gets a little better with each release and I'm certainly not disappointed with its performance. I'm curious why you have one of each program though. What's your wife do?

I made a Christmas card this year from one of my downtown photos. Of course I added some stuff and changed the entire thing to look hand drawn with pencil. It was still rather neat because it came from a photo though

Since we're talkin about programs anyone out there got a recommendation for a photo organizer program? Mine are in desperate need of catagories and key word searches and stuff. I just haven't looked into... just keep burning them to CD while trying to at least put them in folders... what a mess!

I ended up printing the cards on white card stock and the other photo
is a signature i originally made to use on the forums here. i used it for a day
or so and after realizing it was probably annoying i took it off my sig line

Thanks on the compliments on the site... I have a LOT of free time right now and I physically can't due tile all day (because of injury) so I have to find time to fill in my day with other stuff.

Shutterbug-- My wife has a business, mostly on line, of making over and creating her own fashions for collectors dolls, and on her sites she gets really creative with the way ahe displays them. She's always like adobe for its versatility. Me personally, like you said, I think it's confusing to use, unless you use it on a constant basis. The reason I have PSP is that it came already installed on my laptop.

I'm such a procrastonator! I don't know why I just don't get the one that Jasc makes. I was looking at some reviews through consumerreports.com and wherenot a short time ago and was quite impressed by MS PictureIT's features. As I recall it was the feature that allowed you to assign a rating system for your pictures. Like a 1-5 star scale. I thought that would be cool since I have a lot of angles of the same thing or vertical and horizontals of same subject that even I might be able to make some sense from my 'collection'. Problem is that one day I'll like one of my photos and next day it's so-so. Guess it depends on what mood I'm in .

But you're absolutely right! I should just get the Jasc program and start organizing! What could it hurt? It can be a gift to me for getting ALL the tile laid. YEAH!
