Done! It took a while, but I finally decided to install the new post on a 100 deg. F day. Let’s just say that post didn’t have to wait for its first rain to get wet.

I like its aesthetics better than the ugly appearance of the old post. Since the post is aluminum, I won’t have to worry about corrosion. It’s very sturdy, too.

Sorry for the wrong orientation of the image. I tried to change it but failed.

Actually, you'll still have a corrosion concern, Wolfgang, you just won't hafta worry about rust.

I agree that the improved aesthetics.

Technically, yes. Since I am not near any body of salt water, I doubt that I will ever see any. Aluminum is pretty amazing.
Afco makes some great columns in various materials. Good stuff.
