Just did a quick check Jim and it looks like there is a 6 cyl and a 4 cyl ( 4.0 and 2.3 ) but both appear to be gas.

Jim, you 2012 Ford Ranger is nothing like ours. Yours will be larger, closer to an F-150. The small truck market here in the US seems to be shrinking, mainly because the compacts are getting larger. Perhaps to accomadate our growing bodies, who know. Would love to see that truck sold here. Heck, would really like to see those engines available here.
This article, explains why.

Not too far off on the diesel. Was $3.95 on the way home today. Ouch.

No, Jim, at least not in Texas. We don't drive wimpy vehicles down here. Gotta be at least full-size Ford and preferably a Dodge.
P.S. I get diesel for 3.50 at the moment. Of course, we make it down here.

That is a small diesel motor. I have heard Toyota also makes a Tundra with a Diesel but you can't get that in da states either.

Ford in the USA no longer makes the Ranger for the states the 2011 was to be the last year of production, but they sell it overseas. Wow we actually export something, ( hope it's made over here)

2012 Ranger is built in Australia, I believe.
Levi, Toyota makes several size diesel motors. When I worked at the Toyota Plant, maintenance had an '02 Tacoma with a 4 cylinder diesel. There is a Chevy Colorado built in New Zealand, with choice of either a 4 cylinder or 5 cylinder Duramx Diesel.

So this Ranger will not be in the US? I filled out a questionnaire for them a couple of years ago (I was thinking about buying a Ford) and this was the exact suggestion that I made, the Ranger needs to be overhauled to compete with the Tacoma. It'd be a shame if we can't buy that here.

The St. Paul Minnesota Ford plant which has been open for over 80 years, will close for good in December. This is where the Ranger has been built.

That's too bad. Last I heard, they were building a plant in India, or somewhere.
