Schluter around Niche, profile orientation?
Hi All,
We are in the middle of a bathroom remodel. We wanted to add a niche to the shower, and the contractor made one of custom size.
The tiling is now going up, and we requested a schluter edge around the niche. I came home and saw what they had done and was very confused, as they put the thicker edge of the schluter on the inside edge of the niche. As a result, you really don't even notice the schluter at all.
I've attached a picture of how it looks, as well as a picture of how I expected it to look.
When I approached the contractor of why it was this way, he said that is how they always do it. Annoyance with that comment aside, I did a google image search and literally could not find a single example of someone orienting the shcluter with the edging on the inside. I sent him like 15 pictures of it all on the outside edge and he got all defensive.
Anyways, my questions are:
1. Am I crazy? is the way he installed this uncommon? It seems like most people like to see the actual schluter edging.
2. Is there anything fundamentally wrong with this installation? I really don't have the extra money for them to tear it out and redo it .. But I want to know if this is just an aesthetic issue, or should I have concerns?
thanks to all in advance!
