Penny tile steam room

Hi guys. I’m wrapping up a residential steam room that’s all in penny tile. Including seat and ceiling. What kind of grout would you recommend for this application ?? I know epoxy grout would be best but it might be out of the budget. I’d like to stick with Mapei products if possible. Thanks !

Ultracolor Plus FA would be the most likely candidate for penny rounds in a steam shower if you're not wanting to go with an epoxy.

Flexcolor CQ is my go-to always...except for steam rooms, of course. Not recommended per the TDS.

What brands do you have available?

If it's Laticrete, I'd use Laticrete Permacolor. It has never let me down. It always is predictable and dries to exactly the advertised color. But fair warning...it can fire off faster than other grouts...so don't mix up more than you can use during it's pot life.

If you're using Mapei, I would use Ultracolor Plus FA in a heartbeat.

Ultracolor Plus FA or Kerapoxy CQ are our go-to products for steam rooms.
Let me know if you have any questions on either one!

I know epoxy grout is expensive, in particular with penny round tile which eats up a lot of it. However, my vote is for coughing up the additional money and enjoying worry-free performance for many years to come. Check out the Spectralock "commercial size" on stonetooling.com. That's where I got mine. You'll be astonished to see that it becomes much cheaper as you buy a larger quantity. Given the overall cost of a steam shower, the extra few bucks for a true epoxy is in my view a no-brainer.
