I got a thin drain from Amazon. Sits perfectly, slightly below the tile. I mud it in place and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I'll post updated photos when I am done.

Hi All,

Got another question. I am almost done installing the subway tile using thinset on the walls (cement backer board w/ Redgard) that will be wet, such as the shower area. There is a wall that isn't going to be wet that I will also be installing subway tile. That wall is primed drywall and is quite flat (shimmed the studs before installing the drywall). Any issues with me using mastic for this wall? The tiles are 4 x 8 and I will be tiling floor to ceiling. I am worried that the mastic won't dry. There is a good bathroom fan so I don't expect it will get too humid in the bathroom.

Reason for using mastic for this wall is that I can continue tiling the next day without having to clean up the thinset on all the tools and buckets.

Thanks,

Technically you can do that if you want, Trung, but I'd recommend you stay with the thinset mortar that you're using for the rest of your tile installation.

You're gonna need to clean all your tools every day, anyway, except for the bucket the mastic comes in and I find mastic much more messy than thinset mortar.

My opinion; worth price charged.

Getting ready to grout soon. Looking to use Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA in Avalanche. How consistent can this be mixed? For example, can I do half the wall first then the other half with the same bag but mixed separately? Or should I try to do the entire wall in one go? I am not sure if I can move fast enough to do one 8' x 8' wall using the rapid set Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA. I used the Mapei (characol) for the shower pan and I really like how it turned out but the shower pan was only 4' x 3'.

Thx,

Hi All,

Looking for advice on what caulking color to use. For a floor-wall transition where white tile meets a dark tiles, should I use dark color or white color caulk? Looking for what looks the be best. The dark tiles are on the floor and the white tiles are on the walls.

Thanks,

T
