checklist for bathroom tiling signoff?

My contractor is about to wrap up a tiling job for my bathroom and I have no clue on what areas to inspect before I sign off.

Any tips or checklists of what I can inspect?

Smile Need more information

The best thing would be to upload pictures of the building process. Many times the tile work looks great but the prep. for the shower is lacking.

How was the shower waterproofed would be my first question. Was a traditional mud shower pan built with a pvc liner or some other water containment system?

If no pictures, please explain to the best of your knowledge how the shower and floor were built and with what materials.

I agree, beside any cosmetic flaws the shower could be totally constructed wrong. So to be honest it's kinda late to start inspecting.

Leak test the shower.

Aside from that, make sure you all the stuff in your contract is resolved.

Inspect the grout. Have they sealed the grout? Is that included? Look for holes, etc. I would check the corners and make sure that they are siliconed and not grouted (a common mistake). Look at the tile in the light and make sure there's no haze on it. That's all that comes to mind right now.

Remove the escutcheon plate and take a picture at a sharp angle like the one below. We want to see a cross section of the wall / tile assembly to check if it was waterproofed.

Got a pic of the drain?
