I'm in CA so we get none of the fun...just a lot of the regulation.

I was living in Oklahoma for a few months when open carry passed. I found it amazing how responsible people were when I asked if they would open carry.

Most said they plan on continuing to conceal because they feel it's more responsible and that they were happy that if their firearm was showing by mistake, it wouldn't be considered illegal.

In CA, people fear guns where as OK or TX (where I'm originally from) people seem to respect them.

Hoplophobia has run amuck in many places. It's irrational to blame a tool for the consequence of a persons action. There is a push for universal background checks in PA. We have checks on everything now except the private sale of long guns. I still haven't figured how these new check will impact crime when hands and feet kill more people in PA than long guns. Here is an interesting chart from the FBI http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr...abledatadecpdf

You can make a gun with a 3d printer....scary huh?

And there is no real way to stop anyone from doing it either....Kids are pretty smart on computers..they are the ones that scare me the most.

Yeah, more gun control will definitely fix this problem. Only thing is, terrorists don't play by the rules and have access to weapons on the black market. Last time I checked, full auto AK47s have been outlawed for years, especially in CA. That old adage is certainly true, when you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have them.

At least 17 people shot in New Orleans recently, but I just now heard about it.

Here's a quote from the article:

"The Times-Picayune reports, citing Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office records, Allen is a convicted felon and has previously been charged with home invasion, carjacking, illegal carrying of a weapon and possession of cocaine and heroin."

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/11/29...park-shooting/

And no, I'm not Foxnews fan.

I guess we just don't have enough laws yet.

What the hell does this latest shooting have to do with the Second Amendment?

Every time there's some nutcase/terrorist that shoots up innocent bystanders, it just gives the anti-gun/pro big brother crowd something to use against the 2nd amendment. What I find funny is this: the politicians/stars/etc that want all guns taken away from law abiding citizens are protected by ARMED guards. You think they're going to give up their guns? Not likely.

355 mass shootings in the USA so far this year.

A mass shooting is defined as 4 or more victims including the shooter. So today's 3 person shooting in Houston doesn't count.

You have a link to that stat, Paul? I would never have thought that we've had more than one mass shooting every day for almost a year.

The numbers on your chart Bodie are about 3 times the actual numbers the FBI has listed. Where did you get this info? Those are more like the deaths by automobile stats. According to the FBI and Wikpedia.
