joint compound

Hi Everyone,
I have finished tiling my masterbath for the most part. I was wondering if joint compound will adhere to CBU and thinset. I don't want to go up as high as i planned with the tile around the whirlpool tub. I would like to texture the wall and paint it just above a row of tiles...
Has anyone had good luck with this?

It'll work, but do yourself a favor and use "setting" compound. Not the stuff in a bucket, ready-made. This stuff is dry, in a paper sack and you mix it with water. It won't dissolve on contact with the slightest bit of moisture, as will the pre-mix stuff....
