Shower Niche on Outside Wall

Thanks, CX.

So I guess I'm stuck with a corner shelf, then. Or is there another idea I'm overlooking?

Tile wall ledge, or tile shelf the length of a wall.

You could still put it in the wet wall, Ashley, just need to route the plumbing around it.

I am going to disagree with CX about the shower niche on an exterior wall, in particular if you have 2x6 framing. If you can put 1.5 in polyiso insulation board behind the niche (and perhaps use something like 1/4 in Hardibacker ONLY for that area, then you will have good insulationand still enough depth for a nice niche. Would it be my preference if interior walls were a better option? No! Is it doable? Absolutely. I have done that as well as I had no other choice for niche placement, and with good foam insulation in place it works quite well. Now, water supply lines in an exterior wall is another story. That I would avoid at all cost, especially in Montana.
