Hello from Omaha, NE
Greetings to all,
I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. My name is Shawn Prentice. I am 37 years old (male) and I have worked in the construction trades for about 20 years now. I started in business as a new construction framing and siding contractor and now work exclusively for homeowners. The services I offer my customers include: carpentry (finish, cabinets, rough), windows/doors, exterior moisture infiltration repairs, interior remodeling, and, of course, tile setting. Regardless of what I do, I offer my clients uncompromised quality with exceptional service.
I typically work alone and utilize subcontractors. I mainly contract my own work based solely on referrals, but work as a sub on occasion for the Marvin window store here.
I wanted to also tell everyone how much I appreciate the courtesy and respect you all give each other, as well as, the DIYs that come here to get help. I am a member of a few contractor-only forums and let's say the rules there are quite different. I enjoy helping people learn as much as I like learning myself. I'd rather help someone get their job done right than to have them be another victim to a faulty installation, tile or whatever.
Thanks and I hope to learn much from all of you in the future.

Welcome, Shawn!! I feel like I've known you forever, or at least for 86 posts or so.
I'll have to think of a window maintainance question, we have Anderson's in the house.

welcome to the forum Shawn,
I have a window ? I have Marvins in my house - crank outs. - 3 yrs new
I can't stand the screens on them - distorts the view when looking out the window.
Do they make a fine grade screen like Anderson does?

Dave, been a while since you been back to 'sota aye?
I think they just made the skeeter the state bird.
No skeets now - but just waiting - unbearable in the summer.

I know, I know. I looked for an intro forum and then quickly to see if there were any intro threads and didn't see any, so I jumped right in

Yes, they just came out 1-1/2 years ago. They are now standard on all of the screens with a wood surround, but an upgrade for the aluminum surrounds.
Although, you could just get some high transparency screen stock and rescreen. I haven't worked with it, but I've heard it is more difficult to work with than regular screen stock, and it's not cheap.
