Hardiebacker walls over hotmop pan

What is the best way to install hardiebacker on walls over hotmop shower pan? Will I have to shim 2x4's and remove about 1/8"from bottom 10" of 2x4's?Do I need to remove any thing from sill plate? Thanks all info will help.-----Tom

Shimming will be the easiest solution for you. The hot mopppers may not be able to gage the thickness as well as you would hope.

Remember not to nail the backerboard below a line that's at least 3" higher than the curb.

Thanks Bob. What is the best way to attach bottom 10 or 12 inches of hardibacker over hotmop?

Hi Tom,

The bottoms of the boards are not attached. They can be held in place with the deck mud floor you will install later.

Hot mopped showers are usually mudded up the walls. It's not that easy to use backer board, but it can be done, of course, by shimming.
