Eric I would line up the bottom like your top piece connects with it, since your angle stops at the bottom joint of your 12x12 I'd basically continue that pattern, in theory like the shelf isn't there.
So it will be "straight". Since you have to have a joint running through the middle as well because of the angle change, I'd make that joint (horizontal one) as small as possible "16th" to give the illusion that the tile folds around the angle.
Points for using the same tile on each angle change so the pattern (if any) carries through the fold.
