A little Boric Acid will provide pretty good protection from termites when properly applied to common kiln-dried lumber.

I took y'all's advice and ditched the plastic curb. The continuous piece of lath seemed like the way to go by far. Thanks for the advice so far. Mud bed is going in tomorrow.
