Tiling a half wall with 3 faces

Hi Everyone, I’ve been reading the forum and there is plenty of great knowledge.

I’m stuck on how to tile a short wall with 3 facing sides. Top, shower facing side and vanity facing side. I’m using 4x12 Carrara ceramic tiles. Only available trim is 4x12 with the bullnose on the 4” side.

Fourth side, toilet facing will be smooth and just painted.

I tried tinkering with schluter and could not figure out the 3 way outside corner intersection. Plus my miters didn’t come out well.

I can bullnose the sides but what do I do about the shower/vanity facing corner?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Especially pics. Definitely a visual learner.

TIA,
Joe

You can rip the bullnose into equal widths. Schluter sells outside corners and inside corners if you buy the rondec. You just have to make straight cuts to the corner.

Welcome, Joe.

Is there a shower in this tub enclosure?

Is it just the photo, or does that tub extend out further than that short wall?

Thanks. I’ll take a look. Home Depot is only 5 minutes away so I tend to focus on convenience.

Yes there is a shower. The half wall is the back of the shower/tub stall. There are two walls tiled with the 4x12. The entrance side is a 36” frameless door. No water splashes out. This is the same layout as before just a cosmetic upgrade. 10yr ago when I was a real amateur I used slate and had an unfinished live edge.

This is a similar situation. I used a slab piece on top and wrapped the joints all the way around the 3 walls. BN was available on the long and short sides so that helped.

Very Nice and tidy work Davy!!
I’d wager to bet that the pony wall took more time than it did stacking your main walls.

Sometimes I'll schluter things this way and only make one miter from the top to the front. Maybe an option for you?

This is another way of doing it.

For cutting this stuff, you can use a hack saw with a miter box. Another way to go is to use a chop saw with a non-ferrous metal blade.

Personally, I like this blade as opposed to the kind with teeth because those teeth can catch on the webbing and rip it out of your hands. It's best to cut the webbing away and using a chop saw makes nice, clean cuts.
