damaged porcelain tile

i just got a shipment of 16" square italian porcelain tiles. there were 24 boxes of tiles shrinkwrapped together on a pallet with no padding at all. 4 of the boxes at one corner are damaged, ranging from shattered into smithereens, to cracked in half or just chipped at a corner, depending on how close to the edge they were.
my question is are the other 20 boxes of apparently undamaged tiles okay,
or do i need to worry about them being more prone to cracking from being cut or drilled? i think i can get the actually broken tiles replaced, but i want to make sure the rest are "as good as new" despite the forces that caused the damage near them.
the tiles are by graniti fiandre and are rated as floor tiles, but i will be using them as the wall of a shower.

Maybe, maybe not,i've seen the middle pieces be broke with no evidence on the outer pieces.If you can't open and inspect them for fear of them not taking them back,at least pick the box up and sit it down,not gently, to see if they crack,so they'll be in the box to return.

Tiles are never padded. They are always shipped on open pallets. Your tile shipment might have been hit with a forklift on the corner, or a forklift might have crashed into it racing round the warehouse. As Dave said, you can hear broken tiles in a box if you bounce it just a bit, not enough to do any further damage, though.

my name is nina. because of an impending bathroom remodel i have learned to tile enough to make sample boards of the glass mosaic tile i will be using in addition to the porcelain tile, and even put some of the glass mosaic up on my bathroom wall. i have a background in fine arts and have worked in lots of media, but never anything so practical!
so if the remaining tiles aren't cracked and don't crack from moving their boxes roughly, then i should be able to use them as if the damage was isolated and shouldn't affect them?

That's correct, Nina. If in doubt, tilt the piece up off the floor with one hand and bang it with the heel of your other palm. If it's cracked, it will break. If not, go for it.
