I can relate to that. I have been a collector of Cerwin Vegas for some time. I have 5 or 6 pair of 12 and 15s that could use new boxes. I also have some 1x12 rough cut white oak planks that would do nicely building them with.

It would match other white oak cabs in the house. For now, just working on building some coffee and console tables withe the same rough white oak. My shop is outside my barn tho. Tools are a little weathered but with new blades on everything, and helical on the planer, things are going ok. Everything has been thru the jointer. Next planer, then router for mortise and tenons and then...... The "shop" aint pretty, but the tables should be.

Jerry, you know that for less than 20 bucks you can get new kerf plates for that poor ol' miter saw, right?

Am I the only one who can't look at the title of this thread without cringing?

Have a similar DeWalt 12" SCMS that's served me will for many years now. But it has new kerf plates and doesn't feel the least bit neglected. Used just today to square up some 4x12 cedar beams with it in the shop. Been a while since it's been on its portable stand on a job site, though. Good tool.

Oh, and what happened to fences for yours?

My jointer's bigger'n yours.

When you make any speaker Peter do you have some sort of information beforehand on dimensions that contribute to performance or is it a make it, and kinda test the attributes of the box after the fact?
Justin, at one time, I thought I'd like to design from scratch, but the reality is woodworking is my jam and crossover design and such not so appealing. Hence, I build other's designs and enhance them with my cabinetry. The DIY speaker world is a kinda weird landscape.

As I've come to find out, promoting the hobby and videos are my latest thing. Getting to know video editing has been a source of both frustration and some aha! moments. If there's one thing I've come to know it's that I'm endlessly curious and anxious to learn new things...until I'm not!

That makes sense Peter, I've been looking at some Cornwall IV's which price out around 6k a pair maybe 3k-4k if I get the "B" stock ones and was wondering why I couldn't build a box and get something comparable.

Seeing a couple videos of how engineers fight certain frequencies canceling and weird ways sound can travel in general were enough to discourage me. Audio can be somewhat subjective on that final sound but I'd sure like to dabble. Doesn't seem to be many places to sample alot of speakers anymore.
