Can you ID this shower valve?

Hi guys,

Trying to help my dad with a leak in his tiled shower wall. It’s leaking into his basement. The back of the shower wall goes into a closet so there is access to replace if that was required, without ripping out any tile thankfully.

We found two leaks. The first was the tub spout. It’s a slip on style and basically the seal just wore out. Easy fix.

There is a second, smaller leak coming out of the face of the cartridge. There is an o ring about 1.75” across. About 1/16” thick. It’s hard and flattened. I’d like to replace the cartridge if possible but there are zero markings on it. No numbers, brand name, nothing.

Anyone recognize this? If not I’ll try to source the o rings and repair it for now.

I can tell you what it's not. It's not a delta, well at least I am pretty sure it's not. I am leaning towards a American standard or Kohler.
Those companies warrant their fixtures forever and you don't need to be the original purchaser. Once id'ed you can call them and they will most likely send replacement parts. That is if you can wait a week for them to show up.

www.terrylove.com is good for plumbing stuff. A look at the trim may also help distinguish what brand it is.

Think I might have found it. Looks to be a Pfister valve. Weird. However it seems they do make rebuild kits. Thanks guys

yep, looks like a pfister 0x8 (well an older variant of it). The 0x8 rebuild SHOULD be compatible. NOTE, it has a lifetime warranty. Call here and they should send you a new valve or rebuild kit: https://www.pfisterfaucets.com/parts-support/contact-us
Let me know what that happens when you call

Yeah. Pfister for sure. I knew it was a home a model that was sold at the HD.
Pfister is great with their warranty. It's owned by procter and gamble, who own just about everything. I have one of their kitchen faucets and the hose for the wand goes out about once a year. I have no problem getting warranty replacement parts with no proof of purchase.

Just did one like that, it is a Pfister. Here’s a pic of it for reference. They do make new cartridges.

Kind of irrelevant, but Pfister is owned by a holding company, Spectrum Brands, Inc. out of Madison, Wisconsin. Pfister's actual office is located in Lake Forest, California. I know the entire team and they are all good people.
