Plumber putty stain

Had new chrome fixtures installed on marble composite bathroom vanity. After install there were circular stains around new fixtures (see photo). I was told stains were from old plumbers putty. I'm new to this forum and am hoping to tap into your knowledge dealing with this problem. I did see some posts by jkmin from last year indicating Goof-Off and Mr. Clean and elbow grease helped him.
Have tried Stonetech/DuPont oil stain remover to no effect. Wouls appreciate any help the Pros on this forum could provide...Thanks

Its cultured marble, more likely a chemical reaction. I would suggest a bigger escutcheon.

Were the new fixtures installed by a pro? I ask because any experienced remodeler knows to use silicone instead of plumbers putty to set fixtures like that on cultured marble. They do make oil-less plumbers putty, but some installers also avoid that out of an abundance of caution.

I’ve not had any luck removing a stain like that. If the remedies you mentioned improve things, that means the stain is a surface contaminant, rather than a stain that’s gotten into the surface.

The surface of cultured "marble" is actually plastic. The plumbers putty might have destroyed the surface.

Thanks John....Am trying several solvents as well as pastes. So far no luck so you may be correct.

Hi Tool Guy.....Thanks for info. New fixtures were installed by pro who used a silicone based compound to set. He actually was the one who identified stain after removing old components.
