tile on curved wall

Hi

I am putting in a bathroom. A curved wall exists; it is the backside of a circular staircase, with ~42" radius. It is convex, pushing into the bathroom.
The wall is actually just lots of studs, no wallboard has ever been put on this side of the wall.

Is it possible to put tiles on a curved wall? I would like to make it a wall of the shower.

Is it possible to put some kind of backerboard on a curved wall?

Should I just abandon this idea of a shower with a curved wall?

Thanks for any advice.

Having a curved wall is possible. The smaller the tile the better, some sort of 1"x1" mosaic would work nicely.

However --- as far as the CBU.. I'm not sure if you'll like installing it, it would have to be cut into nice clean strips. Best option for this would be KERDI.

Wait for some others to chime in for some alternative ideas.

There's this stuff, I have no idea where to find it.

PermaBase Flex Cement Board .

And this if you're going to install Kerdi.

Sheetrock flexible gypsum panels

Meegan(?),
What part of the country are you in. Some tile distributers carry permabase.
You can do curved walls, and they look pretty cool. But like the other guy said, you have to use small enough tiles to go around that curve. Either using smaller tiles or cutting down larger tiles to a thinner width.

how close is the stud spacing?1/4 hardi backer does bend but has some memory so it helps if the studs are close together if you gonna use the kerdi you can use sheetrock which bends pretty nicely as well but you need 2 lyersimo to get it stiff enough
