I have a master shower tile installation project in the works. I began installing the 1/4 in. wonder board over the grenn faced gypsum board. I haven't started the tileing but in the comming several days I should be finishing up. You can get a look at the shower here. Tell me how much money does a shower like this is tiled for..It's 9'6" x 3'6" with an outside round wall and 12 8x8 glass blocks on that round wall..What do you guys think? Can I pull it off....?

Louie,

Looks like a fun one. That radius shower floor looks like a barrel of joy to float off from the back corner to the drain.
I like to push for t&m on anything with lots of kinks in it. But if they forced a bid price I'd shoot the moon.I'd rather punt than lose money on my knees..god knows we never do that. They don't want a tile guy, they need an arteast..somehow that sells better. "Never underestimate the man that overestimates himself."

What are all the square holes in the radius wall for?

I can see a couple weeks in that shower, about $5,000 in labor probably.

Trask,

Louie is doing his own shower if I'm not mistaken and the square holes are glass blocks, right?

yes.

Yes it has 12 8x8 glass blocks. I started wonderboarding all the walls. Started with the round one today. I finished floating the 4' mesh on all the unions...So far it's taken 5 sheets of wonder board. I will update you on my progress..

I think the glass blocks are a good design idea and I'm curious to know what your doing to waterproof them at their junctures.

What I did to water prooff them at their juncture? Well first after the wall was made I decked the outside wall with 1/2 in.plywood. After the wall was covered with felt paper on the outside I began making the cut outs for the individual glass blocks. Then I covered the inside wall with plastic moisture barrier making it long enough to fall over the showerpan liner.I made separate platic pieces for the holes. I laid them in the individual holes in a manner that would overlap the wall's plastic covering.
Then I installed the green faced sheetrock. I added a mortar bed underneath the 1/4 in. Wonder board and joined the junctures with 4" wide fiber and mortar...That's where I left off tonight..
