From what I read, it was discovered 100 years ago by accident. There was some movement to map it out, but it didn't move fast enough for the property owner, so he just covered it back up.

Supposed to be about 10,000 square feet of it underneath. It was set around 400 A.D., I think it said in the article. Would be neat to go see it.

Am I the only one that thinks the picture in the link within post #1 looks fake? It wasn’t until I hunted down other pics using Google before I was satisfied that it’s actually real.

I can see the advertisement:

I had to look at that one a couple of times myself. Must be the camera angle or the lighting or something.

It is amazing, and like John has said what blows my mind is the time it is dated and how thoroughly things have changed to hide something of that nature so completely.
