Toilet flange problem

After demolition of the existing floor and mud base my toilet flange now sticks up 2" above the plywood. I was plannning on installing backer board then the new tile. Combined that will be about 1" How do I handle the 1" the flange will extend above the new floor?

Hi!

PVC piping or cast iron?

If PVC, you could probably just cut off a inch then glue on a new flange.

I don't have much experience with cast iron, so if you have that, someone else should chime in.

After your demolition, what do you have left? Make sure your framing and subfloor is sufficient for tile before you adjust your drain. Use the Deflecto tool at the top of the page to check your numbers. Also, what sort of tile are you planning on putting down?
