Just A Bird......

Well, when I lived in New Orleans, I caught a bird in my backyard...a blue-fronted Amazon parrot and I've had him(?) ever since. We're talkin' about 50 years here, and was an adult when I got him. Only friendly with me and hell on my cat. Still, loved the little bastard..... Found him feet up in his cage this morning. These birds can live to be over 70+.

I'll miss him.

Naw...no alibi from the cat....but trust this, it only takes ONE encounter for them to learn!

Sorry to hear that, Laz. We've had many parrots in the past. Blue and Gold Macaw, a yellow Nape, a couple yellow heads and an African grey that wanted to remove my fingers.

It all started when I bought a large fish tank from a pet shop that was going out of business. They said all sales were final. After spending about 700 dollars on the tank, the corner seam broke and leaked half the water out on the first day. I loaded it back in my truck and took it back. They wouldn't give me my money back but would trade it for anything else in the store. You guessed it, his parrots were the only thing that expensive. It was quite an experience.

No, my wife got tired of cleaning up after them and with kids in the house it was too noisy. Parrots select who they like and dislike. The yellow Nape talked well but didn't like females. I kinda wish I had another one now that my kids are grown. My grand kids would like having a parrot around. I'm afraid doing that would put me and the bird in the dog house.
