I love the Pacific Northwest. One of these days I'll be a snowbird.

Winters in the Sunbelt. Don't like being cold.

Give me a couple weeks! I have a lot goin' on this week!

L

...the Chocolate Decadence I make is truly decadent...but my personal and very private dessert concoction is a thick, apple, huckleberry tart. Butter crust wrapped high on the sides of a deep dish apple/huckleberry tart. The huckleberries create a fantastic color with the apples...and it's just the perfect fall treat.

Huckleberries grow on my land...I pick them and add them to the fresh apples from the trees in my yard. That ties in nicely with another delecacy that grows here. I hunt for Chanterelle mushrooms as well, which I serve with the fresh, alder smoked, King Salmon. People look at me like I have three eyes when I tell them I crawl around the floor of my forest in the rain to harvest them. They sell for about 17-20 dollars around here in the grocery stores. I don't sell them...but I sure feel like a lush when I prepare meals with them.

I'm tellin' ya...we need to make that 'free union' or 'class re-onion' of John's at that muckle buckle high school...or whatever the name o' that school he usta go to was. Then we could all get together and experience the great Northwest! Very different than Lon Gisland. I appreciate both...but probablly wouldn't move back east. Spent a load of time in NYC during my childhood. Love a lot the city has to offer...but love the serenity and beauty of the NW.

John~I think being a snowbird sounds delightful! Never have been crazy about the cold myself! My big old house is a perfect summer home. Wouldn't have a lot of good to say about the cold, sog we have up here in the dreary monthes in the place though. Already feeling my tootsies getting chilly. But I will NOT turn my heater on yet!

L

....chatty tonight ain't i!

Thanks for the warning, Jim!

Tomorrow will tell the story. Still haven't got all the mess cleaned up from last winter. Don't need another mess on top of my other mess.......

Oh well,...................

Better you than I, Howard.

We're still recovering from the last time we hosted the submarine races here.

I do hope the wind slows a bit. It's not a laughing matter.

Howard, be sure and check in with us when all's clear. We're a worrisome sort at times. The west side may be bad, but it's the east that'll bite your booty. Please stay away from it.

At Howard's Pub on the Outer Banks' isolated Ocracoke Island, bartender James Tucker said he and five other employees resolved early Thursday to "hang out and drink beer until the cable runs out."

Does that mean they're gonna quit drinking beer when the cable quits? Why?

The beer comes thru a cable. Actually it's sort of a garden hose.

Guess I'm gonna hafta go over and show those North Carolinians how beer is done in the big leagues. Given an excellent excuse like a hurricane, I know of bunch of Texans who could stay wasted for a week with or without cable.
