Yes Jim but only if someone can find some justification in the brand mustard that is used at the parks.
Seriuosly...I have never liked intentional walks unless of course I'm rooting for the team that's pitchin' em at the time. What would be wrong with one IW per player per game?

I was misbehaving on purpose when I started this intentional walk thing. Let me start a new thread on it so CX doesn't get his knickers all twisted.

Hey, I'm on cable...I was just thinking of those of you still on dial-up If you're going for a record, how 'bout 100 pages?
As to the weather, it's cool (49 degrees) and raw here today. Yuk. No snow, though - too early for that, thank goodness!

I don't think connection speed or thread length matter. The server only sends one page at a time. Dialup? Wazzat? Oh yeah, I remember. My current computer doesn't even have a modem.

Did I mention I have 640 MB of RAM?
It sure seems that the longer the thread, the longer it takes to navigate but perhaps that is nothing more than an impression, vs a fact.

Now that Dave mentions it, I think he's right. This thing operates on a mySQL database. In essense it makes a page for everyone who requests it. Every time you prompt it, it makes a new page for you to view by gathering bits and pieces from the database, and it really does only make one page at a time.
What will slow things down for the folks on dial-up is a bunch of images on the same page. That's what seems to get to CX, for example, and he's out in the boonies and only has access to one dial-up service -- his phone company, as I recall.

Yeah, dave, them spinny globes was a killer on my end.
You're right about my connection, John. But lately (like since July, anyway) my machine says it's connected at 49 - 50K most of the time. I recall somebody, JC methinks, saying that didn't really mean it was going that fast, and sometimes it acts faster than others. But it doesn't seem to me to make all that much difference loading threads with a lot of photos or ones without; sometimes it's all fairly fast, other times slow as hell, still other times it seems to need to be told everything twict.
But that damn globe would let you have a nap whilst it loaded.

Weather Weather Weather... it's easy enough to start another thread, but this is entertaining enough I guess.
Go figure, it's cold here tonight... like in the upper 50's. JJ's hot and sweaty, wants the windows open, frig open, AC on full blown, ceiling fan on hight, ice packs around the bed.
10 minutes later, she's turning the eclectic blanket on high, throwing ice cubes out the open windows and axing me to turn the AC down (tho' she means up).
Whatcha think? Hot Flashes or what? Now if I could just get some rest...

Weather-wise, the big blobs of rain from the hurricane were well offshore when they passed us, and we're just getting more of the same rain showers we've been getting for the past two weeks. My jungle has turned into a rain forrest agian.
CX,
That world thing was about 16 different images, I think I heard Dave say. It really is images that cause most people to slow down. Another thing I've mentioned before, some of the slowness has to be attributed to our server. When there is a demand on the database, I have a feeling it will slow down just like anything else in the computer world. The damned machines are fast, no question, but they can only perform one function at a time. When they get 'em to where they can walk and chew gum, we'd better all watch out.

Thanks, guys, I'd tried one of those thingees long time ago when I had mucho connection problems. Instead of better connections, I think now I have less than candid reporting from my own machine. It says catchee speed of about 49K - test sites say, "yeah, right, more like 30K, dumb dumb". But I get on JBS forum OK, so life is not all bad.
