I'm always the odd one out....We're running the AC down here since yesterday. Mid 80s yesterday. Overcast and warm again today. It should rain tonight and then cool off. So mild last month that our power bill was the lowest ever, only $48.
Bundle up Marge. (I think we need a 'freezing your bonkie off" emotican.)

Thursday morning update Ballard
Warm out, everything melting quickly.
Weather report said that we would have a pretty nice weekend.
Rest of the country bunker down, it's your turn.
Stay safe out there.

Kelly,
I worked EMS for almost 10 years in South Texas. When the floods came in October 1998, I remember we joked that the citizens of Comfort would find themselves in Welfare, courtesy of the Guadalupe River.
Cheers.

Neesie, We're sitting here in Clemson almost ready to kick on a little air. It's close to 70 again and HUMID. Of course, if the weather forecast is right, we'll have a fire in the fireplace this weekend.

I see it is colder in Dallas right now than in Seattle. That is a switch. They were 70 something yesterday and low 30's today. That is a big shift in the weather.

Jerry,
Yup. Big change. It's 27 right now. Just some light snow and sleet right now. When I lived in San Antonio, I used to say anytime anyone spits on the highway, the powers that be decide to shut them down.
Cheers.

Forty and damp in Houston. I still think it's a Northern conspiracy of some sort. They're talking about highs only in the 60s for the rest of the week.

no s**t
It can even get colder than this. Sometimes as low as 40 below. Last week with the wind chill it was. You get in yer car and when you drive away the tires are flat on the bottom. Feels like washboards. Shakes the hell out of the ol' wagon.
We have block heaters and plug in the cars or they would never start. Gots to check the ole antifreeze in the fall too. Blocks can crack. Also find out how good yer battery is too. Booster cables are essential...o the joy I used to say that we have 8 months of hockey and 4 months of bad ice.
Luckily unless i'm doing some portable work i'm inside mostly. You are right tho, things tend to break more in the cold. My buddy is a plumber and works for the school maitenance, and he is getting alot of ot these past few days. Poor bugger lol
When I was younger I worked consrtuction for a little while, It's really not that bad (I was alot younger then lol) and you do get used to it somewhat. Lots of layers and well actually working does help keep ya warmed up. Things slow down tho. Herman Nelson is your friend and so is hoarding.
I don't have to look for a cooler for the thinset when I need to cut a couple of tiles, just set it outside I have hot and cold to my hose bib outside...thanks to wally...and I got my tiling mostly done b4 the REALLY cold weather got here. My igloo, i mean my garage is insulated and I have a space heater. i put hot water in the tile saw lol. Had to put away the garden hose tho. Last time i used it had to leave the water trickle from the hose a little bit so she wouldn't freeze. That was b4 it got cold lol
Just saw JTg's post..that's a lot of freakin' snow. I'm not inna mountains but we got prolly 2-3 feet of snow here now.

Materials and tools need to be on site the day before or you cant even touch them.
If its a full pallet the center of the pallet will still be freezing cold 48 hours later if you do not break the pallet down.
If you cant set a saw up indoors no way no how..........yours is a springtime job....Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine...OR change the way the world works
Thermometer reads -2 below Zero this morning
Manicmachinist likely lives close to the same parralell as us up in northern Minnesota. When we feel the cold start to blast its way in here, we call it an Alberta Clipper.........It starts in the arctic, rolls down through Alberta and settles itself up against the Big Wall called the great lakes where it settles in for a few months!!
Therefor I listen to what he says because IF he says I woke up to 29 below zero.............you can bet that within 2 days I will wake up to 29 below Zero
