ACO 's Shower Channel - Curbless Showers (Vancouver Wet Room)

Who out there has installed one of these ACO Shower Channels.

I have one on order from my local ACO rep here in Vancouver and have consent from my local building inspector for another curbless (sill less, wet room, etc) European shower.

The new ACO drains even have a mini LED light options that under light the drain while it's wet. That is very cool. The light runs on a moisture sensor and will last many months with a small battery.

I have found many pictures on line and there are many styles to choose from. My plan is to install the Shower Channel at the entry to my walk in shower (4' x 7'). I want to grade the rest of the bathroom including the none wet zone to the drain at a slight grade of 1/8" per foot in case the supply lines for the sink or the toilet ever go. I plan to keep the grade inside the shower at a 1/4" per foot. The look will be nice and clean with out the curb front and center.

There are so many options with these shower channels I was hoping those of you out there that have installed them could upload your pictures. The installation specs online from ACO show a PVC liner with a wood sub floor system but I have inspected the drain and am sure it can be installed with a standard Schulter drain but I am not 100% sure. Has anyone tried this?

Here is a picture of the Shower Channel that I'm installing. This photo is from the ACO website.

Thanks for the help.

Go Curb Less...

More pictures at this link.

Love the Red Light in the shower drain.

Looking through the website there is so many contemporary showers. Some many stream lined looks.

John,

For what it is it looks great. I've just never gone along with this "wet room" idea. I'm the guy who goes around telling people they have to hand dry their shower with a towel. That could get to be a real chore in your wet room.

Wet Room style.

I don't think I would remove the frameless glass - only the shower curbs.

Most of these UK designed showers all have the custom glass work just no curbs.

Love some of these shower floors set in large dimension stone - some neat cuts in those pages.

JB what is the best setting material in your opinion for a black tile with black grout. I was thinking of Granny Rapid for the setting material and the Mapei Ultra Colour for the grout.

That is one sweet looking drain assembly... I have always been interested in doing one of these but the opportunity hasn't presented itself yet. I know trask built his shower with a channel drain, but he built it out of mud and kerdi with a slotted slab top.
