So I'm not sure I'm doing this right (should I download and save the photos, and post them here directly?), but I stumbled across this on Facebook this evening and thought you guys should see it.

I'm not wrong in thinking that shower is going to leak like a WAG's diaphragm, am I? I don't see any waterproofing at all, and they've got screws all through--well, all of it. And that in a year or two they'll be able to harvest mushrooms off the wood used for that bench (once they drain all the rancid water away)? I could do a better job than that, and I'm not a professional advertising this as good work on Facebook.

No way to know anything at all about that photo at that stage of construction, Stacey. There may be a plan.

I could be wrong and it's something like DensShield on the walls--I'm not familiar enough with all the various backers to know if it's a gray one or regular drywall or cement board--but it still looks like it wasn't screwed in/sealed properly to me.

Well, they waterproofed part of the bench, sorta, and it's got a nice door. What's not to love?

this one is pretty bad, i only got involved after the builder stripped it, it was a existing tile shower that the owners wanted to retile so the plan was to remove wall linings, take up floor tiles, re waterproof etc retile, turns out the walls had been leaking for years, there were 2 layers of tiles on the floor, (black tiles and under them white tiles) no indication it was leaking, luckily its on a slab or the floor would be gone as well ...now its a rebuild

Thought you might enjoy this. This (photo 1) is the result of a "professional setter," a subcontractor, it seems, who (if I'm understanding the HO's post correctly) blamed the store where the HO bought the tile and the HO herself, for not getting a "jigsaw" tile.

The tile store, when called, managed to make it worse by asking to be allowed to send someone out to grout it to see if that would "fix" it (photo 2).

And I *know* I'm not wrong about the lack of waterproofing here; I honestly cannot see how they plan to correctly waterproof the big gaps around the edges.

Lots of things wrong in this house, tile set over plywood (he couldn't figure out why it was cracking and popping) sheetrock set with 4 corners touching, and about half the screws as needed, tile set over purple rock in the tub and the highest polished slippery tile on the floor outside of the tub. Guys is a master plumber by trade and very good at that but remodeling, not so much. He told me his life goal is to flip houses...

No sir hell I wasn't even over there to look at the tile, I went to look at the sheetrock cause he said he couldn't get anyone to finish hanging and then mud and tape it. And I seen why. I asked about the tile and he told me that the house had a terrible slope to it(3/4" in 2') but he didn't want to spend the money on self leveler, so he did a section with something similar to deck mud and then feathered it out and sIapped some tile down. He didn't think there was anything wrong with what he did. I mudded and tapped the master bedroom so he could paint and trim it out and move in, in exchange for him pulling a permit so I can replace the main water line in my new disaster house
