I would probably do the corners the same in this situation. If you run them the other way then they just look like really long tiles. The mirrored corner is appropriate in my opinion.

Can't figure out an excuse for the niches though.

I guess I’m a fan of those half cuts being from the same tile all the time Jim, I dont like the half cut then the mirror being a different color, I would alternate colors on the full corner but the half cuts should carry through (fold). My opinion of course Some of the half cuts match some don’t not my cup of tea.

here's a bench we ripped out in a shower recently.
just throw a couple blocks in place, tile cuts, driveway pavers, clay roofing tile and dump a bucket ole thinset on there.....oh and no waterproofing either.
