I highly recommend those PTC bits, especially for porcelain. A little pricey, yes but they work great. I have a little write-up in the Liberry on them, here http://johnbridge.com/vbulletin/show...66&postcount=2

I've cut at least 25 holes using my 1/4" bit and it's still going strong.

P.S. A few pictures of drilling holes on the tail gate of my truck with PTC bits.
[Plumbers putty is being used to form a water dam to keep the bit cool]

Question

Any professional result for use on a vertical surface? Like for a shower grab bar? I have just such a task not too far down the road. And my porcelain is PEI5 and tough as granite.

GHR- Mine is rated 5 as well. I'm gonna assume these PTC bits will do the trick. I'll use a second set of hands along with a pressure sprayer (garden type) and keep spraying while I'm drilling. Watch this video (if you haven't already) http://www.constructioncomplete.com/...?v=ObNb7kmv4_Y

Having a second person squirt water on the bit using an ordinary plastic spray bottle also works on vertical surfaces.

By doing whatever to keep the bit cool along with keeping the drill RPM's down, I think you will be very pleased with any one of those PTC bits, even drilling through Grade V porcelain.

P.S. Joe, thanks for the link to the YouTube video. I'll add that to the Liberry thread.

Question

THat video is fantastic! :greatpost: Make me wish I had the money to buy one of those bits if they cut like that.

Out of curiousity, where does one buy that attachment use with the bigger bit with continuous feed water? Seems like that'd make an extra pair of hands unnecessary. Seeing as I have such a problem(only two hands, no helper) it would be very helpful. I'll bet it's very expensive $$$, right?
