How to remove rubber gasket from pre-formed shower pan

Hi

I am removing an older pre-formed shower pan to replace it with a new swanstone pan and the drain is a pvc pipe with a pressure fit rubber gasket. that is all keeping it in place right.

Ive been digging at the rubber gasket for an hour but can only succeed in getting pieces of it off.

Any helpful hints? there must be an easier way to do this!

thanks

Alex

Alex,
Ya just gotta keep on diggin... Sometimes a pair of needlenose pliers will do but most of the time ya just have to get in there and pry it out...
