Dave, stop posting Black Labbie pics......
I found myself searching the Humane Society sites this weekend and found two BL's that were so darn cute. Just not ready yet.
And why are you staying at fleabag hotels that don't allow Labbie's in the pool? We had Shaka with us one day when looking at an open house. The realtor liked dogs and said to bring her inside. All was well until we went into the back yard and Shaka beelined to the pool and had a nice swim. Ooooops.
And just FYI...this thread is officially five year's active.

On my way to Florida I didn't have to worry myself whether or not the hotel allowed dogs in the pool. My dog does not like water, most uncommon for his breed.

You are absolutely right Kathleen, it should be what our pets do for us!! There is no question in my mind that we get far more from our pets than we are able to give in return.
On another topic, I need some good thoughts for a Cavalier rescue we just brought in last Thursday. She is 8 years old and has just about everything wrong that can be wrong. She has diahrea, an eye infection, ear infection (both), diabetes, and is skinny beyond anything I have ever seen In fact, when we brought her to the vet last Thursday, the vet wondered out loud if she would make it through the weekend. So far she is holding her own and appears to be getting better, but I'm still holding my breath. Right now she is being fostered with another breeder friend of ours because we just have too much going on to give her the kind of full time care that she needs right now.
And this dog came from a family!!! What is wrong with some people??

Bruce,
Wife and I did a rescue transport a few months back and two of the pups got misrouted so instead of someone picking them up at one of the stops we ended up driving them to meet with someone from the local rescue, since it was sort of close to where we live. Anyway, one of the dogs was a Shih Tzu and was in very bad shape. He looked more like chinese crested than a shih tzu. His eyes looked like they were going to pop out. The person who kept him overnight said that they thought there was smth wrong with his testicles (they were rock hard apparently, I took no part in that exam ). In any case, I was sort of shocked to see that a rescue commited to pulling him out of the shelter, almost thinking that maybe they didn't know?
I just checked their website and it doesn't look like the same dog! http://www.mastiffstomutts.com/anima...lOtherPictures
I guess some just need a little more TLC than others.

Plain mean and stupid.
Don't understand why some people have pets and don't take care of them.

I've never posted pictures of Mikey before.
Just a couple of pictures of him stealing my bed.

OK, so I've posted a few times on this thread. Time to show my crew, plus a couple of my favorite pics.
This is my wife and I with all our dogs. Buck the cat wouldn't sit still for us, very typical.
This is Buck the cat introducing himself to to a puppy
And finally, my all time favorite puppy picture. This is 2 litters of puppies. My wife took this when it was puppy bath day and decided to try washing them together in the bath tub. It actually worked fairly well.

Kathleen, Mikey is just as lovable as I would have imagined from your descriptions of him. He obviously has you very well trained.
Bruce, Thanks for posting pics of your pack. How in the world did you manage to get them all positioned like that? Now that is one cat that looks like it rules the roost. No wonder you couldn't keep it still for the family photo. The puppy bath picture is really adorable.

This afternoon our church had a Blessing of the Animals service. We decided to take Sam and see if a blessing might help him. For those of you who know Sam, you understand what I'm saying (or not saying). He did quite well until it came time for his blessing.
You are going to do WHAT to me??????

Clyde I guess Sam just isn't into that water thing.
Bruce, thanks for sharing. I just adore cavys. I notice the baseboard/teething toy in one of the pics. And that's why I don't do puppies! And so many!!! I have three and it's more than I can manage. They do bring so much joy.

Neesie: It isn't just the baseboards that are chewed! If you look close, so are the wood tables. And almost everything else that can be chewed by a puppy. About the only thing that has faired pretty well are the leather furniture; I have no idea why they seem to leave that alone. We gave up trying to have nice furniture long ago, just part of the cost of being a breeder I guess.
The biggest scare we got was with our second ever litter. We discovered that the puppies were chewing on a lamp cord that was plugged in. No one hurt, but now all the receptacles in the living room and dining room are ground fault receptacles.
I should add that it's not just the puppies that chew, but a lot of the rescues we have fostered have chewed as well. But they usually stop within a short time. A lot easier to train an adult dog than a little puppy.
