Have you found an ideal average size for each space/niche? Some people have those large bottles with pumps. I would think about 14" or so.

Most of what look like tall bottles are only 8 in. to 9 in. tall. The pump attachement adds a couple inches at most. I make sure the large (upper) compartment is about 12 in. in the clear. The lower compartement (soap, razor, etc.) is 7 in. to 8 in. tall.

All my niches fit in a stud space. I think a vertical expanse looks better than a horizontal one, but you can head a stud off like a window and make your niche wider and lower. :

When we're ready to start on that bathroom remodel, I'll measure the main items the kids use so we'll have a good idea of the size niche we'll need. I'm going to 'borrow' John's design
