Wanted to buy: Your design expertise and design software/skills

I plan to do my bathroom remodeling myself, and I'm reasonably confident in my ability to do the rest of the work that needs to be done, but I have zero confidence in my design skills, and the last thing I want is to put the time and money into doing something that ends up being decent work but that just plain looks like crap, especially since this is a very small bathroom which (in my mind) increases the risk of it looking tacky instead of pleasing.

I have a few ideas about what I might like to do with regard to tile design and color, but I just can't visualize them and don't want to invest in some good software and the time it will take to learn it just for this one project -- especially since I pretty much suck at design to begin with.

If you are someone who has a very good eye for design -- including with older baths that you're trying to give an older feel to, and not just the modern bath designs -- and you have a program that you could use to show me what my bathroom might look like using my ideas and your talent overriding my ideas where necessary, please PM me your information and an estimated cost for doing something like this. FYI the bathroom is very small - only around 7x7 with two irregular walls -- and is in a 1930s house. I'm not going for a strictly traditional 30s look at all but at the same time I'd like to at least hold onto the feel of that general era where I can.

And just in case I have no concept of how much it would cost to have someone do this and it ends up not being remotely affordable for me to hire someone who knows what they're doing (we're raising our two granddaughters, one who will be in college soon, and their mom is now expecting a third, so our budget is pretty strict), I would also appreciate being pointed towards any resources that you might recommend that could help me with my design questions and concerns -- especially for in a very small space, since everything I find seems to presume a much larger bathroom or the ability to steal space to make it larger, and for bathrooms in older houses where we want to do something different than what is currently popular.

Thanks!

Leslie, I'll move this to the Professionals' Hangout to see if you get any nibbles. The B/S/T forum isn't geared for this sort of request.

And in either forum your title's not gonna be real helpful without some geographical information. You haven't even included your location in your User Profile.

If you'll fix the Profile, we'll help you change the thread title to something more helpful.

For any discussion other than offering your design services, please use the project thread here.

Profile fixed - I'm in southern Delaware, though for this I can work with someone almost anywhere, via photos, measurements and email.

Thanks!

Leslie, do you have a tile showroom in your area? If so they will probably help you and should have the computer software. They may even do it for free if you purchase the tile from them

Download a free trial of Chief Architect.

I had a client who did so, sent me these, said there was a relatively small learning curve vs. sketchup or similar.
