L.T. you do all your own plumbing and shower pans too? Nice job man. Up here no one does they pan except the plumbers, and now tha we are doin kerdi showers the plumbers are all bent out of shape about losing the pan.

Thanx Rick.To answer your question, yes and no.The plumber jackhammered the hole and connected 2'' pipe stickin up from da ground. He also sauters the new piping in the and does his prep in the wall/ultimately hell come back and install fixtures (bling bling). We do however, connect the clamping drain, fill in gap,pre slope(when necessary),run panliner, remove toilets, install toilets, you know basic stuff. Most of the plumbers in our regoin of TX(upper east)dont install panliner and the one that do hack it up.My opinion is that its really the tile mechanics responsibility.I mean if there is failure who will get da blame?

Jason,
I think hes all about it but not as much as i am. I love kerdi i think its great man i guess cause i went to the school thingy in SC. I tried to get him to read the Kerdi book but he won't unfortunately. I think he sees $$ which i do too but ill do the install work which is fine with mwah. I just don't want other installers in the area to know about it so we have an edge. I know i have a kerdi box and i filled it with water and let it sit on my new oak table for a week while i was 150 miles away working and knew it wouldnt leak and it didnt but the water did get funky.

Here's one we did last summer. No action shots but shows some progress. The main issue on this job was keeping a consistent layout around all the obstacles. I have no photos to prove it, but we started off with a laser line all over the floor, then snapped square lines all around this floor to get a feel of the layout, made some adjustments, then stretched a string around all the major layout lines - since chalk does not stick to ditra very well. All and all, I'm pleased with the turnout.
The first photo shows the general layout of the main floor - about 1500 sf. The white space was all tile. The rest are kinda a work in progress.
