I have to do an entire wall with it and was wondering if anyone had any tips?

I haven't contacted the distributor yet, but the instructions mentioned using epoxy to set them. Does that make sense?

Add: Any thoughts on setting this over plaster?

No but it looks like it would suck, says paper or plastic film..I assume on the face..depending on the application I think I would use a really good thinset instead myself. Not that I don't trust glass mosaic companies to dictate tile installation to me..but I never really got much good advice from them.

I didn't see anything on there site about epoxy. says use adhesive to help with leveling and you may need to back butter big pieces...That is ALL it says in the tech data about installation...you sure about the epoxy info you were told?

Trend is from down here in Florida and Henri (Laticrete) just had some installed at him home down here.

I would contact him or Laticrete to see if the "one step" method can be used with it, as I'm sure it will be being it's a transparent glass.

I just saw the actual product today (customer supplied) and it is a clear film on the face. The instruction were short, unclear, and you had to sift through the other languages to pick out the English (at least I did )

I have about 50sf on the one wall. Part of it will be inside the tub surround on most likely backer with hydroban, so I don't have the thicker transition I would have with kerdi. The rest will be on the plaster wall I will leave in place if I can put this tile over it.

Yes Jim, there was a one-liner on using epoxy buried in the instruction sheet.

Brian, thanks for the tip. I will actually be using Laticrete products for this job and I won't start tiling for a couple weeks, so I have some time to figure this out.

it's not mounted on plastic, it's on the face.
with tile like that your best way is the one step.

???? Thats what were saying Brian...how do you clean the face after you set it without disturbing the tiles...I know the one-step has good grab and all but it seems to me it could still easily pull the tiles up with it.

somehow the plastic needs to come off, and likely you'll see that
wetting it will make it peel right off.
and your not pulling outward. it's in a downward across the face.

Okay, so I hear Laticrete has a new additive to do one step with Permacolor. And I had contemplated that method as this would be a pain to do any other way.

However, I haven't been able to find out from my supplier, yet, whether that additive has any effect on the grout color. The reason being that the remaining tub surround and wainscot in the rest of the bathroom will have the same color grout (different tile, 4x8 subway) and those tiles can't be set with one step.

Do you/anyone know if one step with white Permacolor can be used next to white Permacolor without the additive, without any noticeable difference?

That plastic is a complete PITA if it's like the pic below. The tile basically has to be dried and set up before you mess with it. Which sucks for trying to adjust anything. Wetting did nothing to this stuff and it was stuck dang good too.

Chad, the plastic seemed stuck pretty good when I looked at it today, although I didn't try to peel it off. I start the bathroom tomorrow, so I will give it a try and see what happens. The instructions did say to wait 3 hours before trying to pull the film, so...

I've installed some really similar stuff. You really have to pull hard on that plastic to get it off. I used 254 platinum and removed the plastic the next day. I don't see how you could pull it off until the thinset is dry without pulling the tile down. Have fun.

Here's a pic of some plastic faced mosaic I did last year. It was a major pain in the neck. Even peeling slowly across the face I had tiles popping off. My advice: Charge accordingly.
