Not happy with kerdi/ditra installer in Los Angeles area.

Hi all,
looking for an EXPERIENCED kerdi/Ditra installer in San Gabriel Valley/Los Angeles Area. this is a 4 bathroom (2 with tub/shower and 2 with spa/shower), kitchen, dining room, and family room tile project. The plan is to float all the walls and floors that need to be tiled (except the kitchen walls and backsplash areas), with kerdi/ditra systems.
So any tile installer or if you know anyone in the area who's EXPERIENCED with the Schluter systems and might be interested in the job please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

If your gonna want them cement floated and then kerdied don't be surprised at numbers in the $30-$35 a sqft range for that.

Why is this poor guy having such a hard time finding someone in OC or LA for this surely there has to be someone closer than Jack and I.

Well I know of plenty of guys that would take that job, if you could wait for a few weeks at leazst Sammy... but not one is experienced with Kerdi, just hasnt take off quite yet around here. In fact it is mainly DIY's that are using it at this time, that and select few tile guys, but it isnt all over out here in SoCal like it is on the east coast. That may be the issue of why not alot of people are responding..

That's more interesting to me, Gabe, in light of Schluter having just completed a new manufacturing facility in Reno for the purpose, one would presume, of better supplying folks onna Left Coast. Ain't y'all Cali-foornees s'posta be cuttin' edge kinda folks?

Yeah CX the reno location has helped alot for speedy delivery. I have shown the product to numerous guys that I work with, not one is interested. Motto is " Give me Mud or give me Death". Dont get me wrong there are a few who us this system but as I have mentioned before 90% of them are DYI's.

I deal mainly with old dogs in the biz, and none feel like taking that 1st time risk of a job failure when they know what works for them, rock solid, and has for years. That being mud. Heck I dont even know of many folks that are using CBU on a regular basis even for tub surrounds. It is all Lathe and Scratch. Takes me 2 months to move a pallet of 1/2 hardi, as a example. It is all mud in my little bubble.

Exactly ! It is a dying skill/art, sad to say.

No disrespect to guys who use all the other methods out there, but true custom, craftsmenship is done by mainly Mudguys, imo.

Back to schulter tho, we mainly sell metals and trims. Not so much the other systems.

Gabe, is it me or has Schluter not really taken off in SoCal yet? We are going to start carrying it because a lot of web customers asking for it but our locals are hardly familiar with it.
