White Tile & White Grout - No longer White

A few years ago we got rid of the peel n stick vinyl and laid down basic white tile with white grout in our kitchen floor. It was a well intentioned project at the time. We sealed with some megabuck sealer at the time. Now several years later, the grout is dirty gray and the corners of the tiles are also dirty. When I say dirty I think I mean discolored as no matter how hard I scrub them, it stays dirty. I am wanting to sell this place and wonder what I can do to fix them up.

I'm probably near to the last person qualified to answer, but IIRC, you can buy coloured sealers that both stain and seal the grout - check out the links on this webpage to Tile Your World (TYW) Stain 'n Seal, for example.

You might try a grout cleaner restorer and stripper before staining.

Anyways, maybe this will give you some leads.

I can't believe John B. isn't all over this sales oppty already

Welcome, Trouper.

Yeah, Mark, you beat me to the punch.

You won't be able to restore the grout color to white, and I don't know why you would want to, anyway.

You can do as Mark suggests. Use the heavy-duty cleaner and then a stain that will go well with what's left after the cleaning. A light gray, maybe.
