white film on grout

I put sealer on yesterday, and now I have a white chaulk type film on my grout lines. What have I done?

This was in our master bath. The porcelain tile was installed in late January and the grout is unsanded. I used Aqua Mix concentrated tile cleaner on the floor and rinsed with clear water. When it was dry I applied Tilelab grout and tile sealer. I applied it to the entire floor, tile and grout, twice. And then just to the grout the third time. The sealer says if a residue is visible after drying to remove it with water and a spone. I have done this with no visible results. This morning I tried cleaning it again with the tile cleaner and a white polishing pad. The white chaulk film is still there.

What did I do wrong? What do I do now??

Thanks for any help!

Hi Beth

I haven't ever used that sealer, so I would start with a call the the techies at Custom. I hope the haze is just a hardened film of the sealer, and that they have a stripper that will remove it.

Let us know what they say.

How long did you wait after you cleaned the floor before you sealed it? You may have trapped some moisture in there. Let us know and we can go from there.

BTW, welcome to the forum

Thanks for the suggestions. My husband called Tilelab today, and they recommended their stripper to remove the white stuff. They didn't give him a reason why this happened.

kemguru,
You may be on to something there. It was only a couple of hours between cleaning and sealing. What do you think.

Again, thanks for the help.
