carrara marble mosaic meets denim buffing wheel

I had this bright idea to quickly dry-buff out some grout residue with a denim cloth buffing wheel I had lying around. When I stepped back I noticed I had stained the marble with the blue dye in the buffing wheel.

Any recommendation on how to unstain it before my wife notices?

Thanks,
-Vin

Bummer. Sorry to hear, Vin.

Let's move you over to the Cleaning Forum for some specialized answers.

1) Is this a floor? Or...?
2) How big are the mosaics?
3) How much square footage are we talking about?

Whatever you do.....test. Test whatever method you're going to try in an inconspicuous area before committing to the whole thing. You're in a bad spot at the moment and you don't want to escalate this into an even bigger problem.

My initial thought is to test with some graffiti remover that contains methylene chloride on the marble. Normally I'd be thinking of making a poultice. But with this hopefully being on the surface only, I'd dampen a white soft cloth with the product and wipe a small area to see if the cloth starts picking up the blue color.

Hang on...there will be others that chime in with some suggestions.

Thanks,

It is 1"hexagon mosaic on a 4X4 shower floor. It is not a large area that is affected. I basically left some couple of inch by 1 foot long streaks where I ran the buffer.

I will wait to hear back from a few others as well before I try anything.

If the dye is water soluble...

That's it for me. I'm out of ideas.

I tried a damp rag and with a little scrubbing it came off of all the tile. There is still some in the grout. I might try a little brushing there and see if I can fix that up.

I was worried for a moment.

Thanks

You might need to re-grout in those areas. Still, you got away lucky
