Cutting slate on the fireplace

We have a gas fireplace that is surrounded by slate .75"-1-1/2" thick....we are thinking of possibly hanging a new flat panel LCD TV over the fireplace......There is power behind the slate, but my ? is what is the best way to cut this stuff say for and electrical receptical box/ cable box to be behind the TV?

but you want to be carefull not to cut the whole to big , if you have a rotozip or a dremel (preferably the rotozip) you can get bits for it that are pretty stout and they are for cutting tile and stone make your cut with the angle grinder only to your marks then finsih it off with the rotozip,Good Luck

When you say make my cut "only to the marks", are you saying just score it on the marks with the grinder and finish with Rotozip? You guys are good and the help is so appreciated......THANX SO MUCH. Also if I have to cust a small hole in the side to feed my component wires through the slate to the TV, is there a certain size I should do this hole that would allow me to purchase some type of finishing piece to place in the hole to make it look finished?
