Removing and replacing granite tile set with medium set

It's been a couple of days since I set a granite tile I cut to recieve a corner shelf, and now I realize I cut the opening on one side 1/2 inch too long and want to do it over.

How do I get the tile off, and then how do I restick the new one? Do I need to chisel off the medium set down to the CBU, or just enough to restick it?

I have not grouted yet.

Use a cold chisel and attack the tile from one edge, setting the chisel at the lowest angle possible and driving it at the base of the tile. Then scrape the medium set off of the backerboard. It doesn't have to be pretty.

You may want to tape off the neighboring tiles with painter's tape to protect them from the chisel.

You don't want to put this off any longer than necessary, since the mortar only gets harder with time.
