Who Was That Masked Man???

Everything seems to be about the masks and the "good" they do. OK, so what are the downsides? The downsides are that, with long term usage of face masks, you breathe in considerably more carbon dioxide. That is a "given." So, what does this mean? It means a reduction of oxygen to your heart, your brain and your lungs. It increases the acidity in organs like your kidneys.

One reported effect is frequency of urination and urgency of urination...not a particularly good thing in and of itself.

Less O2 to the heart, lungs and brain is not good for you, either.

In my opinion, extended use of masks could well offset any perceived advantages of it's usage.

Still, people will continue to use them....but it's only a "feel good" issue.

Make no mistake, they are still valuable for health care workers and the like, but for most of us, their value is minimal....

Wow, no wonder so many cases in texas and florida. Sorry Laz, we here in NY in the initial epicenter of the pandemic don't share your sentiment. Please wear the mask. It's saving lives. Only people who are naive about how germs spread don't want to mask up. Yes, masks are annoying as hell, but we here in NY have squashed the curve on covid. We are hoping we don't get re-infected by non mask people.

The typical mask leaks enough so this should not be an issue. Consider how those that wear glasses tend to get their glasses fogged up in some situations...that means that your hot, moist, CO2 laden air is going out. The mask's primary aid is to others, preventing you from expelling virus particles in moist particulates. Those tend to hit the mask first, and the gasses can go both through the mask and leak elsewhere. It's better if the mask actually fits well and the majority of the exhalation goes out through the mask, but it really isn't an issue. Way too many misconceptions propagate out into the general population as truths...

people dicking about with masks, not wearing them correctly or touching them constantly you might as well not wear one but if you cough or sneeze they will stop spread
