Let me add if you smoke multiply the danger by a factor of 10. We commonly called slake time smoke time inhaling plenty. As I have gotten older I see the results in myself and others. Fortunately I no longer do either and wear a respirator if I am near cement dust.

I had an older brother who died from silicosis. He had been a tile guy most of his adult life. He was diagnosed when he was 65 and died in his seventies. He was very miserable toward the end.
