Would self leveling concrete not be sufficient to fix a subfloor that isn't flat and/or level?

If a mud shower floor is done, how long does it need to cure prior to tiling?

You could use a self-leveling product so long as you understand that such products do not actually self-anything. But in a small area such as you have it shouldn't be much problem to encourage it sufficiently to make the floor level and flat.

The mud bed is still the less expensive option and both corrects for the subfloor and creates the perfectly fitting sloped shower floor in one operation. The cure time is technically 20 hours, but overnight is usually adequate cure time to be able to apply your direct bonded waterproofing membrane and tile if you're in a hurry.

My opinion; worth price charged.
