Marble Transition between Hardwood Floor

Hello All,
Well I'm well into my tile project of my small bathroom. I have a question about the marble transition I will be installing. The room next to the bathroom is hardwood. Do I need an expansion joint between the marble transition and the hardwood or just between the tiles and the marble transition? I will be using a 1/8" caulked joint between the transition and the tile but was thinking of butting the marble against the hardwood. any thoughts?

You need a 1/8" soft joint between any stone or ceramic material and any other type of material. You also need one where there is a difference in supporting construction. At least one of those 2 rules will apply here.

So I'm going to caulk from tile to marble transition but how should I approach transition to hardwood floor? Worried about how the caulk would look against hte hardwood floor..... Any Ideas?

So you are using a marble saddle?

Definitely caulk the joint between the tiles and the saddle like you are planning. Then caulk the joint between the saddle and the hardwood floor. You can use tape over the hardwood floor while caulking to assist in keeping the caulk very neat. If the hardwood is perpendicular, rather than parallel to the saddle, you might be able to get away with bringing the saddle up to the hardwood with no caulk.....but that crack is going to catch dirt and look crappy after awhile. I'd stick to caulking both sides of that saddle.
