New grout turned yellow

We recently re-grouted our bathroom walls with Polyblend. To our dismay, two month's later, the grout is completely yellow!

I was wondering if anyone knew why this would this happen and/or is there a fix (other than re-grouting again) uggh!

By the way, there is one wall where we used a different brand, and that one looks great so I figure the problem has to be with the Polyblend.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Seriously, I have some issues with polyblend.....yeah, I know that some of the other pros here use it...but certain colours are a thorn in my side. Prism, which is also Custom (go figure) has excellent colour retention. Hard to find, and I usually use Mapai or Bonsal. But I digress.....back to your problem~~

Frankly, I don't know how you can get rid of a "Yellow" grout. You could try cleaning it with a 50/50 mix of vinegar/water. You can try wrapping a pencil in medium-grit sandpaper and "working" it a bit. This will ONLY work if the offending colour is just surface-deep. If it goes thru.....time to "back up and punt." By that, I mean you will have to dig the old stuff out and start anew.

It's a pain in the butt to do, especially if its a big open space.
But it's the only way I know to have a surefire way of getting the grout to be exactly the color you want.

Wait about a week after grouting for grout to fully cure.

Then get a grout colorant from Aquamix and a thin artist's brush and color the grout to your color of choice.

The good thing about Aquamix grout colorant is that it seals the grout at the same time.

Hi Link: What products are being used to clean the shower and/or grout? Is Bar Keepers Friend one of them?

''TEC'' brand product called ''LIKE NEW'' may be an option,sold where ever you can find TEC BRAND setting materials.
However, use caution when applying it, metal and natral stone do not like this product!!.Wear rubber gloves and eye protection.

Thanks for your responses. Mike2, we've haven't used bar keeper's friend, just a regular tub & tile cleaner.

We tried the vinegar & water solution yesterday, but it didn't help. Maybe we'll look for that "LIKE NEW" product and give that a go. Thanks again.

Link, that's good news about Bar Keeper's Friend not being used because it contains oxalic acid which will stain (acid burn) grout.

However, I still have this hunch that the cleaning product(s) being used has contributed to your problem. Specifically, what brand of tub & tile cleaner? I'd like to do some research on it including checking out the MSDS.
