Polyblend grout

I grouted a bathroom floor with some year old grout and after about 60 days it turned to dust; we're talking total dust, no chunks. I've been doing this for a while and I've never seen this!

What you’re describing is consistent with the Portland cement absorbing moisture from the air over that year and slooooooooowly firing off its chemical reaction. When you mixed it up to grout, the grout was already dead.

And, it was probably 6 months old when you bought it. I check the date on bags before buying it from big box stores. I only buy from there when I'm in a pinch. I've found grout at Home Depot that was 3 years old. Someone probably cleaned out their garage.
